Two musical worlds collide through an impressive collaboration between Ghanian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and Jamaican dancehall artiste 9TYZ. Aptly titled “Shatta With 9”, the track was released on February 8th.
Produced by Y.G.F Records, the lyrics portray a type of “Thug Love.”
“There are relationships out there where it doesn’t matter how rough and hardcore a guy is in the streets; there is always a woman who is willing to love and stand beside him,” explained 9TYZ on the track’s concept.
Recently signed to YGF, 9TYZ has been steadily growing and making a name for herself on the music scene, with the release of tracks such as “Mr. Hot Bwoy”, “Slow Wine”, “Extra Wet” and “Happy Time.” The tracks were featured on her first official EP, “Bad Like ’90s.” Now, the artist is gearing up for her follow up EP, which is expected to be released later on this year.
“My main objective is just to make an impact not just locally but internationally as well. I don’t wish to change the music industry; I just want to help to mold it into what it can be,” she said.
With the tremendous reception “Shatta With 9” has been receiving so far, it has gotten the young artiste exposure on a wider scale, particularly in Ghana where the song is very popular.
“The feedback has been really good so far, people are loving it and it’s really humbling. I’m so grateful,” she added.
The official visuals for “Shatta With 9” are currently in production and promise to blow viewers away. Moving forward, 9TYZ has quite a few new projects in the pipeline. While details are being kept under wraps for now, fans can definitely look out for new music and appearances from her in the coming months.
