I think to myself, how could I have nothing to write about? I felt so compelled to share what every writer comes across in their craft, a little itchy thing called WRITER’S BLOCK. A pain in my brain, but a challenge in my passion. I think about my readers being my journal, so it was only natural to let you in on my brain fog. Many things can bring on writer’s block, for example, stress, not enough sleep, the brain isn’t recharging consistently, causing your thoughts to be all over the place. I’m not a medical physician who has the ability to give accurate knowledge about stress and sleep, but I will speak from a human experience standpoint that will back up my conclusion about writer’s block.
I find that when I constantly make it a routine to lay in bed stressing over bills, work, life, staying up until 3 am binge watching shows, I ended up feeling restless trying to focus on my everyday task, which is work (my bread and butter) leaving no room for creativity. When I get into those “funks” my days off from my nine to five or however many hours I work, I’m hit with trying to catch up with daily adulthood duties. Winding down is all I think about, the last thing I want to do is use my brain to write, which should be so simple, but I put it off and say to myself “I’ll try again tomorrow, perhaps the words will eventually come to me.” Then Uncertainty starts to come into play, when I suffer from bad writer’s block, making me doubt my abilities at times. The irony of this is, I’m writing this article at 2:44 am showcasing that the brain is a powerful muscle.
The way I like to express words is through my heart, which works together with my brain. When I need both to perform well together, I start with affirmations, telling myself that I can pick the pen up, and let the words flow from my heart, I will deliver those articles that will touch my soul as well as my readers. It’s a cleanse for me to write for those who understand my human issues creating that relatable feeling. I love to shine the spotlight on my reader’s soul through my words. Appreciate the mind, If you’re a writer having a little trouble writing, take a look at your surroundings, family, friends, colleagues those you receive support from and let their ideas mentor you into the topics you can rely on to paper. Take chances with your writing, don’t be so hard on your brain, this muscle is not a machine. To think we are told that we use a small percentage of it, but in all actuality, we use 100% of it.
