When we think of our happiness, do we think about OURSELVES? Are we really searching for happiness or things to temporarily make us happy? I felt these questions wander through my head very often. I’m sure many of my readers have been down this road where life has more questions than answers, that although we are very grateful for all we have and who we have, we ask ourselves, “Why is there still this void? Who am I really?”
In life, I’ve gained and lost a lot. It has taught me much about my “voids” and my needs to become happier or better, yet more satisfied with the type of human I ought to be. There were times where I almost felt robotic. ROUTINE, ROUTINE, ROUTINE. No love coming in, no love going out. A dark time where I didn’t understand my purpose, and I would spend more time acquiring the bad vibrations of my “routine life.” It left me asking, “am I being ungrateful for what I have?” We aren’t machinery. That’s the thing…. we are HUMANS who require LOVE. Most importantly, the love we give to ourselves! The things we apply to our lives and the promises we make to have a better life filled with materials and wealth isn’t the LOVE your soul needs.
We spend our days working hard because that’s what we are told as the RIGHT thing to do. But when was the last time you asked yourself ‘do I work hard on ME?’ Self-love is so important to us and it’s an unfortunate thing that we take most of our lives trying to figure out. It begins with us, it begins with your reflection! Be kinder, be gentler, be patient with yourself. Self-love is as easy as giving yourself the affirmations that you seek from family, friends and society. It is as easy as getting up and giving yourself that spa date you’ve put off for months, allowing your mind to be okay with You, what you like, and what you want. I know that a hater would classify self-love as being conceited but there’s a huge difference between EGO and THE SOUL.
If you can’t be on your side, why would you expect anyone else to be? YOU are what you attract and in doing so, if you start to believe that giving your EGO love is far more important than your SOUL; life will start bringing you things based on your ego vs the soul. You will never buy shoes over fixing a health issue so don’t start doing it with your soul either. Take time daily to hear what your mind, body and soul needs without the ego attached to it and you will be surprised at what your reflection tells YOU.
