Anetta Mahoney is a flourishing Jamaican name in Fashion Designing and Style. Her love for fashion developed at a tender age due to the many economic crises she faced in her early life. She had no choice but to create my own outfits, growing up in a community that was poor but had the benefit of a strong dancehall fashion culture which became her whole life.
Most of the boys in her neighborhood would cut their long pants to their knees, so she used the fallouts to create her own little styles for her younger brother (Dwayne) and herself. The creation of the styles was everything! People were very appreciative of them and encouraged Anetta to do sewing classes in high school, which she did but had to drop out because she couldn’t afford the school fees. So she attended business classes instead which didn’t cost any extra.
Ms.Mahoney entered back into the world of fashion in 2009 and signed up for fashion classes at Montego Bay Community College where she pursued and gained a Degree in Clothing and Fashion. There she launched in 2012 the HoneyB collection by Anetta Mahoney.
The inspiration arrived from my love for “Bees”. I was always intrigued by the fact that such little creatures can leave such a powerful sting on you. When I create an outfit or style a client, I want the world to feel an impact as powerful as the Bees sting which I see as “Unique, Bold, Center of attention and Fierce!”
Anetta took a break from the fashion world to have her children Bria and EJ, during that time she wrote the books:
Princess Bee by Anetta Mahoney
From the Hunted to The Hunter by Anetta Mahoney
Princess Bee Color Me by Anetta Mahoney and Donald Whitelocke
They were released on Amazon and local stores in Jamaica. Now that her children Bria and Edward are settled, she will be launching her official online store www.anettamahoney.com where she will be focusing on resort wear and unique styles for individual customers. She makes her own printed fabrics and manufactures them in a sewing room in Jamaica.
